shear constant.

These images were generated with Freecloth 0.7.1, using the default simulation parameters and 66x66 patches. The horizontal axis shows the progression of the simulation over time, and the vertical axis shows the effects of changing the shear parameter. The default value for the shear parameter is 10.

motion.

As the shear constant grows larger, the cloth movement becomes more and more damped. I'm not quite sure why.

energy.

As the shear constant rises, the amount of shear energy decreases, both in the transient and steady state. The amount of the other two types of energy also increases, as can be seen with the high stretch energy in the corners.
